What we do defines who we are and we are Alchemi. So what does Alchemi mean? To us, it is a very powerful process of transforming something ordinary or common into something special and unique. The meaning of Alchemi is sort of our motto, that the work we do should be “as good as gold” for our clients. It reminds us to strive for the very best, to be original and to make work that shines brighter than the rest.
Before we had today’s access to social networking resources, we were exposed to information and advertising through traditional media such as TV, radio and local newspapers. Through recent years, methods of communication have changed causing a shift in the ways in which we gather, interpret and receive information. Facebook advertising is a good way to help your business connect to customers.
1. Interaction is key.
The internet and social media have become major avenues of communication for both consumers and businesses alike. Facebook uses “two-way communication” allowing your consumers and potential clients to interact with your business and communicate in real time with feedback, problems and resolutions, product user experience, etc. “In a two-way communication mode like through Facebook, people can acquire information as well as conveying their own comments at the same time. This can make a big difference in social impacts because it effectively facilitates exchanges and interactions among people and thus contributes to making information flows more globalized and influential in the real world.” (1) These capabilities encourage transparency and trust between businesses and clients.
2. No website? No problem.
Even if you don’t have a website for your business, you can use Facebook to promote your business’ services and products to the audiences you want to reach. “Because of the large number of users visiting this social platform, many businesses have turned to Facebook as a way to connect to potential customers. This can be done with a Facebook Fan page.” (2) A Facebook Fan Page allows you to describe your business and location, create posts and photo albums and even promote special offers to your followers.
3. Insights help improvement.
Facebook has a built in tracking system which provides you with Insights that reflect the viewer traffic and clicks that happen on your page. You’ll know where your viewers are coming from and what strategies are most effective for your specific goals. “Use Page Insights to understand who responds to your messages. Make sure to look at the gender, age and location of the people who are the most engaged with your business so you can continue to engage them through targeted ads and promoted posts.” (3)
In conclusion, social media is a great way to connect with your customers and potential clients. Not only can you interact with existing customers, you can also gain significant exposure to a larger audience that you normally would not reach by advertising on Facebook and boosting posts on your Business Page. If this seems like an overwhelming task to organize and execute on your own, marketing firms can help guide you and manage the accounts and all other administrative tasks to keep your page running properly and effectively. Our staff at Alchemi creates posts and advertising campaigns for clients through many social media channels including Facebook. We are here to answer your advertising questions, advise you on how to approach your needs, and execute a plan to achieve your marketing goals.
We have been busy in the new year with creating a unique marketing campaign for one of our favorite dentists, Dr. Scott Finlay. We have been writing about his latest techniques in the market since he is a pioneer and leader in cosmetic dentistry. Alchemi created a fresh branding campaign for Dr. Finlay including email marketing. This was a large undertaking since we needed to start from stratch and compile emails for different lists that not only Finlay’s office had but other businesses. Once we compiled and cleaned his lists we set out to create a new cutting edge look that was consistent with Finlay’s business goals. We feel we have achieved the overall look and first marketing projects including print and online advertising, email and public relations and look forward to progressing with this brand. Take a look at one of our monthly email campaigns. Click here!

Here is another blog with some tips.
Do you have a new product or service? Did you expand your business? How will you let customers know? There are multiple answers to this question.
Yes you can buy an ad in the local paper but what about leveraging social media? Today’s advertisers and communications companies globally are shifting their PR/Marketing strategies to keep up with the ever-changing trends. Alchemi is well positioned in this arena and has supported multiple clients that were frustrated due to a lack of knowledge and the doom and gloom perception that they could never catch up. This is a huge misconception as many companies (including some very well known brands) are behind the times and haven’t engaged their message and brand socially. This lack of action often relates to the simplest of issues with fear sitting at the pinnacle.
Results can be quickly obtained by simply testing the waters and there are multiple ways to accomplish this. You can engage with certain social sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, etc., write a blog related to your product or industry, disseminate information through national wire services and other media outlets to name a few. Results are tangible and can easily be compared to past awareness. You should never engage in a Social plan without having a goal in mind. This can relate to the number of views your web page receives to the number of likes your information received on Facebook; both are powerful indicators for your overall success.
If this topic resonates with you, it’s time to engage experts that can propel your brand and increase client awareness.
For several years Alchemi Design & Publications, LLP has had the privilege of creating award-winning Venue Books for a number of wedding and hospitality locations in the mid Atlantic region. Our books are designed to show off the venue at its finest and feature the vendors who support the project with their advertisements and listings in the book. The finished book is in print but more importantly with the growth in social media is also supplied in digital format for the venue to email to prospective customers and post to their online resources. As we have been at this for a while we are enjoying great feedback from venues and vendors alike who report annual growth in business due to the exposure from these pieces. We continually hear from venues that not only does the quantity of events increase but the quality of the events as well, since the books provide a way for the location to feature and up-sell particular packages, décor, catering, etc. In fact one client who is now on their fourth book has had in increase in weddings from when they started in 2007 with an average of 17 more weddings per year.
The digital version of the venue book is trackable by itself and each vendor’s ad is linked to their website, enabling them to evaluate the response they get to the book. We personally do not like to sell anyone on marketing or advertising that can’t be measured which is why we stand behind this product as a measureable asset to anyone’s overall marketing plan.
We are very proud to announce this month that the Venue Book for Westin Georgetown in Washington DC just won a Hermes Gold Award for outstanding design.

Easter is now behind us but some people are still engaged in the Giving Season and hoping to Multiply Miracles. We were hard at work even before Easter to create a Stewardship Campaign for Woods Church that focused on the concept of Multiplying Miracles for a large community. This campaign evolved into a multiple step project starting with a new logo that conveyed the idea of giving back to the community and that our actions can come full circle. Then moving on to a three fold brochure, letterhead, reply card and envelopes. This was a great project to see in the final presentation, take a look for yourself!
Spring is the perfect season for wedding shows and networking events to draw prospective clients to visit your location for future business. Everyone is happy to get out after a long cold winter (like this one was!) and seeing is definitely believing when the venue puts its best foot forward to show off how they look and work during an event. The key to a successful event is attendance, both for the venue and any vendor participating. To maximize the attendance takes a comprehensive and timely marketing effort with a variety of targeted media engaged in getting the message out. No, social media alone is not yet the only way to get the word of an event out but it is definitely a part of it. A multi-media approach is best at any budget level including print, social media, radio, TV, signage and public relations. Hiring someone experienced and knowledgeable to come up with the plan and execute it is best, but if you insist on a DIY approach investing in a targeted marketing plan first is key. Marketing events can be accomplished whether you are working with a large or small budget as long as you can get the most effective results by doing the right things. Consulting with experts in the field of Event Marketing to get the most visitors to your event will reward you with more business in the long run and grow you event year after year.
